Adorable Little Nail Polish Gift Favor

This craft honestly feels a good ways out of my normal. Nail polish and boys... makes sense I'd say so, eh?! I'm actually not even particularly big on painting my own nails, or maybe at being able to keep them looking pretty at least...

But, I recently needed a small gift that I could hand out easily and without too much detail. I had found a box of these adorable, tiny little nail polish bottles and paper crafted these simple favors. Thought I'd share a short tutorial in case they might be of use to anyone hosting a party or needing a small, basic gift as well :)

What a full week it's been already- kinda exciting! And it's not over yet ;) Today I'm joining some of my favorite bloggers again- this month we've each got a baby project to share :)  My simple little number above is actually an idea I shared a long time ago at my friend Ginger's blog but actually never did post here. It's still one of my favorite baby tools ever! The easiest thing ever to make- an instant bib clip!

Adorable Taffy Kabob Party Favors

So I recently threw a baby shower for my friend. And wouldn't ya know it, I took seriously NO pictures of the whole thing! :P I was so irritated at myself when I realized afterwards! Anyhow, in the process of getting ready for it, a facebook fan asked how I made the taffy kabobs I had made for the All Boy Baby Shower I posted a couple of years ago. I laughed because I was right in the middle of making them again and trying to take pics to share them with you! I've used these several times for shower favors and they always turn out stinkin' cute! I love the rainbow of colors you get with taffy. My boys always hope I have some left over so they can have one themselves :)

Easy Diaper and Wipes Carrier

My friend Heather is about to have a baby girl!

Which means I've gotten to create with girly fabrics and make baby gear lately :)

It's surely only just begun too!

This diaper and wipes holder is something that I used with my boys. I loved not having to look like I was packing a diaper and wipes when I was packing a diaper and wipes, ya know? It also worked awesome when they were a bit older and I didn't need the whole diaper bag. These are really easy to make- as usual, if I can sew it, anyone can!

Cute and Simple Baby Burp Rags

When Cooper was born, my Aunt made me the cutest burp rags that I just loved!

They were simple, but so cute. Because I liked them so well, I used one of them to create a pattern and make them myself to give as baby gifts. These are a great way to bust your flannel fabric stash! (Or, a good excuse for choosing cute flannel to buy while I'm waiting in line at the fabric cutting counter...)

I have a friend that is expecting a baby girl, so I got to actually use these cute prints I've been hoarding! If you are a crocheter, these are also perfect for adding a pretty edge! They are super easy and this little tutorial will make it even moreso...

Conner & Jodie's Baby Shower

So I have three siblings- one brother and two sisters :) Needless to say, Conner was a lone ranger growing up! And now he and his wife are having their first baby BOY!! I was SO thrilled when we found out they were having a boy. First, because, well, Boys Rule ;) and second because our family name through my parents will be carried on :) While we were all home during Thanksgiving weekend, we threw a simple family baby shower for them- with the men included!

The simple gift table. I love making diapers cakes- it's been awhile and it was fun! I did this one more simply based on THIS tutorial. I also made a diaper satchel for them and some fun burp clothes. I got the cutest wipes case from a friend in our ward at a craft fair recently and gave that to them too :) 

We played a quick baby animal matching game using THIS cute sheet. But everyone's favorite part of the whole thing I think was filling out and reading these "Wishes for Baby" cards that I printed HERE. We all got to put our advice in the prompts on these cute little sheets above. It included things like "I hope you ignore_________, "I hope you respect_______," "I hope you aren't afraid ________."

Conner and Jodie took turns reading them out loud.

This ended up being both funny and tender too.

My funny brother-in-law that went on his mission to Japan wrote,

"I hope you learn Japanese," and "I hope you don't forget your name!"

If I ever have a hand in future baby showers, I'll be using these again for sure! :)

Afterwards I tied them all together between some card stock

so they have a little booklet of all our advice :)

I couldn't help but snag a picture of my Grandpa and Grandma Waddoups-

wish they would've been looking, but I'll take it- they look happy :)

My mom made these adorable blankets! The colorful one is all out of minky- Conner was thinking he might need to keep it for himself it was so soft! 

We are all looking forwards to welcoming a new little one into our family!

'All Boy' Baby Shower

Last weekend, Monica and I hosted a fun baby shower for our new friend Beverly Harris. She and her husband are fairly new to our ward and expecting their second child, their first boy, in another few weeks. Since boys are our specialty and craftiness is our pleasure, this was a good combo!

We've made these as favors before and liked them so well, we did it again! We bought bulk taffy, then strung it on long bbq skewers with a big ribbon tied on bottom- everyone from kids to adults that we've ever shared these with have been thrilled! The boys were pretty stoked that we had some left over to bring back home for them!

I've made banners in the past using embellished flash cards, but really wanted to do a pennant banner this time. It was fun and simple, but turned out cute and will be something she can decorate her baby room with now.

 

Monica made some yummy cheesecake cups and I made cupcakes for our shower treats! This orange frosting is my absolute fav! And between Walmart and Dollar Tree, we each ended up with a fun new cupcake tier! The Better Homes and Gardens plates at Walmart right now really are cute!

In the past, we've made diaper cakes for baby showers, but this time thought we'd something a little different. These cupcakes are rolled burp rags and onesies, then wrapped with fun ribbon. You can't see them too well, but the lollipops in the middle are a rolled bib with a spoon for the stick. These were cute and clever (and much faster than a diaper cake!).

For prizes, we mod podged drink carriers from Sonic and filled them with bath stuff! This will be a gift idea I will certainly be using again- the drink carriers made for a fun conversation piece and cute way to make something basic be cute!

Anyhow, another party down- I really love hosting events and this was a fun one that came together with less headache than this same process has in the past. Practice makes perfect I suppose! It was great to get together with Monica and combine our creativity! 

Recent Simple Goodness

Ryder loves to ride on the back of Cooper's trike! I stay super close when he does so he doesn't plink off, but I think they are the cutest thing! In their jammies, enjoying summer dusk....


And here's a few things I've made over the last month or so. I've been loving learning to sew! I don't get to sit at the machine very often it seems, but it is so fun when I can!

This is a diaper clutch- it's made out of a place mat and holds diapers in a pocket on one side and a travel wipes case in the other. I also made myself one of these and I LOVE it! So handy and a lot more inconspicuous than packing a diaper and wipes to the changing room. I love the fraying flower on the clasp! I got the idea and followed the instructions from here. Made two of these for a double baby shower awhile back...

... and included this fun little baggie of bib clips as part of the packaging! They were a hit with the moms-to-be. They are binder clips attached to both ends of a strand of ribbon. Put it around the back of baby's neck and clip an unfolded napkin or paper towel to the clips for an instant bib! I made myself one of these too and leave it in my bag for when we are out- such a creative idea that I found here!

And these are some bibs I made for Lundyn. I was given one similar when Cooper was born and it was my favorite so I used it as a basis for making these- I love having a washcloth to clean things up when eating is over! And the headband was for Quincy- loved this fabric!
